ABOUT US

RGV MENTORS MISSION
The mission of RGV Mentors is to match successful community professionals with aspiring high school students to ensure all participating students graduate from high school with a college and/or career ready mindset.
There are two components of the mentoring program – a School-Based Component conducted in partnership with high schools, and a Community-Based Component conducted apart from schools – which maximizes success for all participants.

WHAT IS RGV MENTORS?

RGV Mentors is a network of professionals created to help facilitate the success of high school students in the Rio Grande Valley. Founded by Rio Grande native and Harlingen gastroenterologist Nolan E. Perez, M.D., RGV Mentors has assembled a cohort of Rio Grande Valley community leaders whose personal experience has validated the role of adult mentors in helping students succeed.

RGV Mentors has joined forces with RGV LEAD (Rio Grande Valley Linking Economic and Academic Development ‐ formerly Tech Prep of the Rio Grande Valley, Inc.), a Texas nonprofit and federal 501(c)(3) corporation that has legal authority to do business as RGV Mentors. RGV LEAD, based at TSTC Harlingen, is a partnership between education and business that prepares young people for today's skilled workforce. This partnership involves well‐established working relationships with high schools, colleges, universities, businesses and governmental agencies throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
